Master's programme in Engineering Physics
The program is given jointly by the Departments of Physics and Applied Physics and aims to educate problem solvers for advanced industrial research and development, and to prepare students for PhD studies in physics and related subjects.
The programme offers a profound knowledge and understanding of physics combined with a training to use state-of-the-art analytical and computational tools. Solving complex, sometimes interdisciplinary, problems is a central part of the education in order to make students well prepared to work in the forefront of future technological development. A majority of the graduates from the programme find positions as advanced development engineers in industry or as doctoral students in academia. Later on in their careers, they may advance to become managers within research and development or become leading specialists within their field of research.
The Applied Physics department hosts the following tracks within the programme:
- Optics & photonics (also includes the previous track Optical physics)
- Quantum technology (also includes the previous track Nanophysics)
- Biomedical physics
