Optimize your measurement by testing different probes

Hello!

I recently received a large shipment of probes for the AFM lab. This included 13 boxes of NCHV-A. They are standard 300kHz probes and should be used for tapping mode imaging in air. The probe cost is 170SEK each. As a new option, we can offer 10 probe boxes to lab users for 1700 SEK. Let me know if you are interested in this option.

I have also ordered new FastScan-A probes, designed for fast imaging with the FastScan system. They are significantly more expensive than the NCHV-A probe (500SEK/probe). Please take this into account when choosing probes for your measurement. If you don’t need to image fast, you can just as well use the cheaper probe. It is in fact, possible to image fairly fast with standard probes.

I also ordered some specialized high performance tapping mode probes with straight side-walls. These are useful for intermodulation measurements as they fit better to the hydrodynamic calibration model.

3x RTESPA-300 (300kHz, 40N/m)

I also have some new ScanAsyst probes for Peak Force tapping (ScanAsyst-Air-HPI, and ScanAsyst-Air-HPI-SS). They are designed to alleviate some of the optical interference issues observed with the standard ScanAsyst probes. The latter probe has a super-sharp tip (1-2nm) for more accurate characterisation of e.g. biomolecules on mica.

Please let me know if you would like to try any of these probes on your samples. These special probes cost around 300SEK/probe or 500SEK/probe for the super sharp ones. The idea with our probe store is that you can figure out which probe best suits your sample and then order your own. I have indicated the prices to illustrate that probes are not expensive per piece, but become a significant cost once you start going through a larger number of probes (which depends on how abrasive your sample is).
