Rules and regulations

  • The course is heavily based on each individual’s participation.
  • Each student shall, according to an agreed-upon schedule, prepare and present a 2 h lecture on the assigned chapters of the book.
  • As much as possible of the prepared notes shall be posted on the homepage of the course. This should include suggestions for further reading of relevant material (review articles, for instance).
  • Each student shall construct one substantial problem relevant to the given presentation. In addition, a not-too-hard problem should be selected from the book. These problems should be inspected by Valdas P before given out to the class. After this, they shall be posted on the homepage of the course. For those students not belonging to the Laser Physics Group, send the file to Patrik Holmberg (ph@lserphysics.kth.se) who will post it on the homepage. Be sure to put your full name and e-mail address on the task sheet.
  • The deadline for submitting the solutions shall be three weeks after the date of posting as noted on the homepage. Under special circum-tances, the deadline may be extended after consulting the teachers.
  • When the problems are solved, they shall all be given to the respective designer, who will then correct them with comments and suggestions.
  • The final responsibility of this process rests, of course, with the course administrators (FL, VP, and JAT).
