Visual optics: focus on the periphery

Abstract:

I will present the two main research projects by the visual optics group at APHYS. 

(1) Advanced Customized Technologies for Intact Vision in Ageing (ACTIVA) - a newly started EU Doctoral Network with three aims: to improve the design of multifocal lenses used for presbyopia (the age-related loss of near vision); to enable more sensitive diagnostics for ocular diseases; and to develop technologies for improved visual functionality with ageing. 

(2) Retinal image quality in juvenile myopia (nearsightedness) - a collaboration project with KI to understand and reduce the prevalence of high myopia through peripheral image quality assessment in children.
