Title:Diamond Lasers and Nonlinear Optics

Abstract: The tight atomic binding and simple cubic symmetry of diamond provides an excellent substrate for exploring a range of extreme optical phenomena. In this seminar some of diamond's distinctive properties will be reviewed, and how we are exploiting these to address challenges in optics. In particular, we will describe our research in Raman lasers and two-photon induced surface atom removal.
