Title: Optically pumped micro- and nanolasers

Abstract: In this presentation, research activities related to the development micro-/nano-cavity lasers will be presented. Highlights include the operation of (i) multi-gigahertz, graphene-modelocked channel waveguide lasers based on Ti:sapphire, (ii) hybrid lasers based on semiconducting nanocrystals, such as CdSe/CdS core/shell colloidal quantum rods and various types of hybrid (organic-inorganic) perovskite nanocrystals in combination with silica tapered-fiber and microsphere cavities, iii)) hybrid perovskite nanowire lasers and tunable optical microcavity lasers with perovskite nanocrystals as a gain medium. Finally, a short introduction of ongoing research efforts to develop sensing schemes involving functionalized graphene and nanoparticles in combination with the aforementioned tapered-fiber and microsphere cavity formats will be made.
