Abstract
Metals can behave to light in a completely different way, e.g. from reflective to transmissive or absorptive, when they are patterned in nanoscale. Plasmonic resonances are usually behind such drastic changes in optical property. I will summarize our recent work on light absorbers based on metallic nanostructures which efficiently convert light to heat. The efficiency and dynamics in the conversion process will be addressed. In addition, my ambition and attempts for making artificial colors will also be shared.
